Inaugural Lecture by Professor Dr. Mirella Manfredi
On May 9, 2026, Professor Dr. Mirella Manfredi delivered her inaugural lecture at the University of Zurich on the topic “The Neuroscience of Humour: Insights into Diversity of Minds.”
The lecture focused on the neurocognitive foundations of humour and explored how autistic and non-autistic individuals perceive and process humorous content. The research conducted at the Neurodiversity & Cognition Lab combines neuroscientific methods such as EEG with psychological and behavioural approaches, while adopting a neurodiversity-oriented perspective that emphasizes individual strengths and diverse forms of social cognition.
