About KJPP

The Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (KJPP) is one of the largest institutions for child and adolescent psychiatry in Europe and, as a university clinic, is involved both clinically and in research, teaching, further education and training.

Outpatient, day-care and inpatient psychiatric services are offered at its center in Zurich, the Brüschhalde Children's Ward in Männedorf and seven regional outpatient clinics throughout the canton of Zurich.

At the KJPP, mainly medical doctors study, but also psychologists and biologists. In medical studies, the KJPP is involved in the study track psychiatry up to the execution of the state examination as well as in the postgraduate teaching of the Institute for Psychotherapy of Childhood and Adolescence of the University Hospitals of Basel, Bern, Zurich (IPKJ) and is represented in the management of the Academy for Behavior Therapy in Childhood and Adolescence of the Universities of Fribourg and Zurich (AVKJ).

As a category A training center, the entire child and adolescent psychiatric continuing education can be completed at the KJPP. The broad basic continuing education is supplemented by a wide range of special disciplines in child and adolescent psychiatry and clinical research. Continuing and advanced training is aimed at both medical and non-medical professionals.

Researchers use today's most relevant and modern methods such as imaging, neuropsychology, biochemical research and work closely with the clinic to identify and develop the causes and best treatments for various disorders such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
