Domain-general cognitive mechanisms play a significant role in language acquisition. While vocabulary learning relies on hippocampal-dependent processes, linguistic regularities are acquired through skill-learning mechanisms. Sleep particularly supports the consolidation of vocabulary learning in adulthood and shows developmental differences in its effects.Further information: see flyer. (PDF, 147 KB)
